Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) electromagnetic
fields are generated by high voltage powerlines, transformers
in residential properties and workplaces ,
and electrical equipment. Health concerns are centred on the magnetic
component of the ELF fields, usually measured in units of microTesla.
There is a certain amount of evidence
statistically linking exposures to ELF fields with leukemia in children
at levels above 0.4 microTesla, but the legal threshold limits for
public exposures in most countries is set many times higher, at 100
microTesla. Although the exact nature of the stastical link between
ELF fields and cancer in children remains controversial, it is sensible
to adopt a precautionary approach with respect to exposure to electromagnetic
fields and reduce exposures in living and working spaces when reasonably
possible. We supply electromagnetic
field testing equipment and measurement services to enable surveys
of the electromagnetic field intensity in your home, building or workplace
to establish exposure levels and provide guidance for action if recommended
precautionary thresholds are exceeded.
ELF electromagnetic
field measurement
We supply a range electromagnetic
field meters suitable for professionals and private individuals
to enable measurement of exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields arising
from high voltage power transmission lines, electrical substations,
domestic electrical appliances, electrical equipment, etc.

EMF-822A - an economically
priced meter designed specifically for householders who wish
to measure their exposure to low frequency electromagnetic fields
generated by nearby power transmission lines, transformers,
electrical appliances, etc. The EMF-822A measures on single-axis,
which means that the user must rotate the instruement and record
the highest reading. Measures magnetic field strength (magnetic
flux density) in units of microTesla or milliGauss (switchable).
Measurement: single axis
Frequency range: 30 - 300 Hz
Dynamic range: 0.00 - 19.99 microTesla / 0.1 - 199.9 milliGauss
Dimensions: 132 x 71 x 25 mm

EMF-828- a teslameter/gaussmeter
with a triple axis external probe used to measure magnetic fields
generated by power transmission lines, transformers, electrical
machinery, appliances etc. Measurement units can be switched
between microTesla and milliGauss, while a range button allows
accurate measurements to be made over a wide dynamic range.
A button on the front panel switches between each measurement
axis.
Measurement: triple axis
Frequency range: 30 - 300 Hz
Dynamic range: 0.00 - 2000 microTesla / 0.0 - 20000 milliGauss
Dimensions: 195 x 68 x 30 mm (base unit), 220 x 58 x 70 mm
(probe)

(60Hz calibration also available).
Measurement: triple axis
Frequency range: 25 - 1000 Hz
Dynamic range: 0.1 - 511.1 milliGauss
Dimensions: 120 x 67 x 25 mm
