Gamma Monitor/Pager PM1703M
Widely used in the front-line against illicit
movements of radioactive materials, employed by law enforcement
agencies, border police, and emergency response teams across the
world. Also used in the metal recyling industry to monitor for
the presence of radioactive sources. Based on a CsI(Tl) scintillator
detector to give better sensitivity than Geiger-based devices
and housed in a small, compact and lightweight unit, the device
activates an alarm (audible and vibrating) when radiation levels
pass a preset threshold, displaying the count rate on a backlit
LCD. The unit may be switched between dose rate and counting modes
for search, detection and dosimetry applications. Data including
alarm times and levels are stored in a non-volatile memory and
can be downloaded to a PC via an IR-channel. Also available with
LiI(Eu) neutron detector incorporated (PM1703GN) for enhanced
detection of plutonium.

Portal Monitors
PM5000 / PM5000E
certification
approved
by IAEA, Interpol
Portal monitors are a fixed monitors designed
to prevent illicit movement of radioactive and nuclear materials
into any controlled area, whether at a border crossing or an entrance
to an individual building or housing compound. The monitors are
based on a modular design that can be adapted to control the movements
of pedestrians, trucks, cars, trains etc. according to the requirements
of the security situation; the system may consist of gamma and
neutron detectors, video monitoring system, pager and communication
system to the personnel responsible for radiation control and
security procedures. Assessment for each installation is made
on an individual basis and depends on factors such as distance
between monitors (e.g. single or double rail track, road or checkpoint
width, vehicle height etc.). Units are housed in pillar mounted
on metal framing; PM5000 units consist of individual gamma and
neutron detector modules, PM5000E units consist of combined gamma
and neutron detectors. Each installation is site specific: monitors
can be configured for any requirement from small pedestrian monitors
to large, highly sensitive railway monitors: please contact us
for more information.
Gamma portal monitor PM5000-01
The PM5000-01 is a two-pillar gamma monitor
consisting of 4 gamma detector assemblies used to monitor trucks
and buses for radioactive material. Power supply, control and
analysis electronics are incorporated into the detector modules;
an occupancy sensor detects the presence of a vehicle in the detector
range. The gamma radiation level in counts per second is displayed
on an LCD panel; in the event of radiation levels exceeding the
preset threshold (based on local background radiation levels)
visual and audible alarms are activated. Alarm information is
stored for subsequent downloading to a PC. The monitor operates
continuously 24 hours a day without personnel interference. In
the event of interruption of the power supply, the monitor is
powered from a built-in battery and performs all functions for
a minimum of 8 hours. The built-in battery is re-charged automatically.

Radon Measurement Systems
Radrisk
supplies both active and passive systems for professional radon
gas monitoring. Please consult us for more details on the equipment
featured below or to discuss which system best suits your radon
measurement requirements.
RAD7 Continuous Radon Measurement System
The RAD7 continually measures radon and thoron
concentration, showing both on a spectrum printout, and also functions
as a sniffer with audible count signal to locate radon entry points.
The unit features the fastest response and recovery time of any
system on the market, and is able to measure radon concentrations
at the 200 Bq/m3 action level (UK and EU new buildings)
in less than 1 hour with 10% standard deviation. The virtual absence
of intrinsic background (0.2 Bq/m3) gives the RAD7
an extremely low detection threshold, easily measuring below 4
Bq/m3. The instrument is microcomputer controlled,
featuring step-by-step instructions for ease of use. Data can
be displayed on the unit's LCD, printed on external printer (supplied)
or downloaded to a PC for further analysis. The unit is a complete,
portable stand-alone system with a built-in air pump, supplied
in a rugged carrying case, total weight 5 kg. Additional accessories
allow measurement of radon in soil and water (continuous and sample
measurement); the RAD AQUA continuous water measurement accessory
allows measurement of water radon to concentrations as low as
1 Bq/m3.

E-PERM Electret Ion Chamber System
The E-PERM system employs re-usable passive
integrating ionization chambers, known as electret ion chambers,
which are placed in the measurement location for a specific period
of time and then read out with a user-friendly electret voltage
reader. Electret ion chambers are low cost devices and are supplied
in order quantities of 10, thus several measurement locations
can be surveyed simultaneously. Short term chambers (measurement
period from several days to several weeks, sensitivity 300 Bq/m3-days
with short-term electret) and long term chambers (measurement
period several weeks to several months, sensitivity 75 Bq/m3-days
with long-term electret) are available. As passive devices with
no moving parts or electronic components, electret ion chambers
are suitable for use in a wide range of locations and conditions.
Radon concentrations are calculated from the electret voltage
reduction using a handheld computer or PC. Accessories for measurement
of radon in water are also available.
